The origins of Rutherford and Company go back to the middle of the 18th century when the family acquired a tavern just off the High Street in Edinburgh. History tells us that.

'Kindly Mrs Rutherford's tavern in Craig's Close was favoured by the merchants who congregated at the Mercat Cross to discuss business'. Amongst her regulars was Robert Burns, with whom the family has some intriguing connections.

Extremely limited stocks. Once they are gone...

We usually have available a selection of discontinued items, uncovered during a tidy up or reorganization of our stores. Also available are ‘one-off’ trials that never made it into production and small numbers of ‘overs’, usually spares not required from short runs. If you are interested, please email and ask for our current list, indication whether you require miniatures, other Rutherford’s or Montrose Pottery.
