The origins of Rutherford and Company go back to the middle of the 18th century when the family acquired a tavern just off the High Street in Edinburgh. History tells us that.

'Kindly Mrs Rutherford's tavern in Craig's Close was favoured by the merchants who congregated at the Mercat Cross to discuss business'. Amongst her regulars was Robert Burns, with whom the family has some intriguing connections.

Anyone purchasing products containing alcohol from this website must be over the age of 18 and comply with any legal age requirements in their home country.

Parcels consigned by courier (those over 2kg) must be signed for. It is the responsibility of the person who orders the goods to ensure that someone is available at the delivery address to accept delivery. It is also the responsibility of the person ordering to ensure that the delivery address given is complete and accurate. We cannot take responsibility for items that are unable to be delivered because of inadequate addresses. Goods must be checked at the time of delivery and any damage noted on any delivery documents at the time of signing. Damage must also be reported to us within two days and you should retain all packing materials.

All goods are despatched by a third party couriers or Royal Mail and their Terms and Conditions will apply.

The prices shown against each item includes UK Excise Duty and vat but not delivery.

UK delivery charges are detailed on the page ‘Delivery Information’ and overseas delivery charges are available on request. Overseas customers are responsible for all import duties and taxes in their home country and we do not take responsibility for any items delayed, impounded or destroyed by Customs or other Agencies. We are unable to guarantee the safe delivery of any products to any country outwith the United Kingdom. Goods despatched outwith the UK are sent entirely at the customer’s risk.

All products are offered subject to availability. A delay of up to 14 days may be incurred when products have to be finished or decorated to meet a customer’s requirements.

We accept payment by Cheque, Postal Order, Credit or Debit Card. Cheques will be cleared before goods are dispatched. Credit and debit card payments will not be processed until your order is ready for despatch except in the case of personalized or custom decorated items. In such cases, cards will be debited at the time when personalisation is commenced. Our Card Payment Processor will not authorize payment for deliveries sent to an address other than that registered by the cardholder. If you wish to have a gift sent to an address other than your own please make payment by cheque or Postal Order.
